Hello again Fools fans and as the Inuit say (some call em Eskimos) 'Weetweeglabba dey glooostaba' which roughly translates to 'It's too damn cold here, why don't we move.' Of course I'm just kidding-it's actually a response to the tourists continually asking the same stupid question-which is-'It's so cold how can you live here?' The Inuit response, as quoted above, really means 'I'm happy here, but how can you live there?' And when they say it they look at that place just between your eyes; of course implying that you must be having a hard time living in that space between your ears if you've asked such a question. Cause they love where they live. All of which brings us to this months column-fittingly enough it has to do with living someplace, we all gotta do it, but do we like being there? Myself-as Johnny Cash once said-I've Been Everywhere Boy------I've lived for at least a while in every possible climate on this planet. And don't give me that 'Mike, you're a rock star -you can afford to live anywhere kinda crap.' While that may be true, when (after leaving my parents home) I first started living in places of my own design, some of my early choices were quite humble. I spent 4 quite happy months in a home I made from 2 refrigertor boxes (we homeless folk called that a 'double wide') in the suburbs of Boston. After that it was on to St. Louis where I spent some fun months as a carnival barker trying to get people to pay to look at a two-headed baby. Then it was a couple of glorious years hitching about the world and living out of trash barrels. But Mike,' you say,' that all sounds sad and horrible!' Well maybe it was but I didn't know it-I was having too much fun. Maybe it's just me but I dig being alive-almost no matter where and almost no matter how-although that 2 month stretch with no food or water in the Mojave Desert (hippy cleansing diet) did test my limits. So here's my message to you people this time around---would you really feel happier someplace else (Bahamas, Hawaii, south of France, or you name it) or is it all up (as the Inuit would say) between your ears. Until next time---enjoy yourself--cause this is where you live----adios amigos..........Mike
