Greetings fellow Fools. Let me start by saying how happy we [the band] was or were to see everyone at the Maynard show the other night. After all, if we did this and no one came it would be embarrassing so it's good to see a sold out show.
On the other hand I could see by the line out front that a lot of people weren't going to get in so please if you can- get your tickets early for these upcoming shows. There's also talk of us going back to Maynard on June 7--we'll
keep you posted.
Now for the important stuff. Let's talk about me. I'm finally out on America’s highways again. Because of my achilles injury I haven't been able to drive my truck with its' standard transmission. But last week after getting my cast removed my 84 yr. old Aunt Helen [doesn't everyone have an Aunt Helen] gave me her Cavalier with its automatic transmission. Someone told me that it looks like a 'little old lady car. Well maybe it does - but in the past week I've gotten into the proper frame of mind and tried to make it a 'little old man car. I drive real slow, wear a baseball cap and leave my blinker on all the time, even when I'm parked.
And speaking of baseball, we're thinking of dusting off an old Fools tune "Rookie at the Plate" for an upcoming show. Damn I get excited about baseball this time of year!
Not to bring anybody down but I was reading the different messages people send to the website and a guy mentioned seeing us on Cape Cod years ago. It reminded me that during game 6 of the infamous '86 World Series we were onstage at the Compass Lounge in West Yarmouth. Being the baseball fans we
are[all except Rich who doesn't like the game because you can't take your bat with you as you round the bases] we had TV’s all over the stage and as the game got to the 9th inning we just stopped playing and waited for the big celebration. It was then that poor BILL BUCKNERS' tab came due on some past life crime as the ball shot through his legs and soon enough the game was over and the mourning began. I just left the stage-I couldn't play out the night. The clubs' manager didn't care, he said 'It's okay go home' and then he added 'Those fuckin' Red Sox.
Ah but hope springs eternal and this year god dammit we are going to win it all and I'm going to be dancing in the street, hopefully on two feet by then. Keep the faith people, and we'll see you at the shows. ----Mikey
