Let me begin by saying how happy we [the band] are [is?] to be out playing
again.
We’re hoping to do more than a few shows this summer if the upcoming hectic pace of three shows on consecutive weekends doesn't cause us to break up again. I mean you have no idea what a know-it-all pain in the ass Rich Bartlett can be if you hang around him too much. And Joe Holaday…jeezus, just because you're, shall we say, physically endowed it doesn't make you an authority on the opposite sex! And Leo Black--okay so you've got a good job but do you have to mention it so much, especially when you know that your singers' last gainfull employment was taking blind turkeys out to shit.
Ah well, I guess I shouldn't get on other band members who aren't here to defend themselves.
Now for the weekly band news. As some of you may have heard--last Jan. 28 I ruptured my achilles tendon playing basketball and have been in a cast up until last tuesday [mar.18].
Some things I have learned during my convalesence:
1. Daytime t.v. probably causes more suicides than anyone wants to admit, although the spanish channel is good with the sound down.
2. You can use a playstation so much that you forget to eat for days at a time.
3. Aspirin is good for some kinds of pain, vikadin is better for most kinds of pain, and percosett is best for any kind of pain anytime including the pain of wondering if you've taken too much.
Now I'm happy to report that I'm pain free and learning how to walk again. What does this mean to the average Fools fan[wait a second you people are way above average!]. well first of all it means that you won't be seeing me playing basketball on t.v. as my hopes for an NBA career have finally been dashed. second it means that until further notice I'll be doing the the shows sitting down. No more leaping into the audience to fondle unsuspecting patrons, no more trips to the bar during guitar solos and worst of all no more quick potty breaks behind Richie’s amp. How will I make it up to you? I'm not sure yet--maybe I'll borrow money from Leo and toss it into the audience !
But the point is let's try to get through this hard time together.
And Most Importantly If you see the band leaving the club at the end of the night and I'm still on stage please remind them to help me down before they go.
Finally the biggest news of the past few months is that original Fools guitar player [alomg with Rich] Stacey Pedrick is rejoining the band.
It's great to hear him playing with us again and it's probably a good
time to clear up a misconception--namely that years ago we fired him. He
was never fired, he just lost his schedule and couldn't seem to find out
where we were playing. Now he's finally gotten hold of our itinerary and
he's back playing better than ever.
Anyhow we can't wait to see all you people again--it should be fun. Also before you shut down your computer check out the links page and go visit the other fools website, it's well worth it. Thank you to Lisa who runs that site and to Jeff Mate who not only helps us run this one but took most of the new Fools photos you see here.
You guys are the best…till next time,
Mike\Fools
